What makes a good leader?

Dostoyevsky once said about the individuals we want to call Leaders: “…They inspire us with faith; they constitute a living example and, therefore a proof. And it is not at all necessary to wait until everybody becomes as good as they, or a great many. Only few of such men are needed to save the world-thus strong they are. And if so, how can one fail to hope?”

I would add one crucial virtue- willing to self-sacrifice for the ideas and well being of the people. Being a leader, a real leader costs! Many true and genuine LEADERS paid for being LEADERS with their life.

To mention Abraham Lincoln, JFK and Mahatma Gandh.

Even those three are more then enough to explain the self-sacrifice and the cost for being a true, genuine leader!

So, being a leader is for few, while being a ruler is for many!

In todays world we are filled with rulers, marketeers and image makers, greed followers that are without substance, without the courage to self-sacrifice for common good.

Beware people! To be a Leader touches the core of the question: what is the purpose for our exsistance? Is it greed where nothing is enough? Or is it as Elisabeth Kulmann that died when 17 years old said in one of hers 1000 poems:

“My way of life

There is no hut in the entire city smaller than mine; It’s big enough for me.

My little garden is even smaller; I only go through its gate; But even then it’s big enough.

Twice I sit down to the table, some meat, cabbage, groats, fish; I never went to rest hungry. Yes, in the summer I eat berries: raspberries, strawberries and blueberries, often accompanied by a pear.

Until now I’ve always had two dresses; Many people have one, unfortunately! Just one thing, and it’s still weak. Complaining would be a sin! Only the lame, the blind, and the orphan without a roof are poor.”

Let me try to share part of my thoughts!

The purpose of our exsistance is FUTURE! Our duty as humans is to pass over our genes, by making kids. Our purpose for exsistance is, if we can not do that ourselves, to make the atmosphere of trust, compassion, togetherness, for the others to pass over their genes to the new generation. Our duty is to promote family values! To recycle family values and educate with it the new generation! Then, and only then, awoken and positive, making the earth an oasis of goodness and inside and outside beauty, we as humanity could proceed with our advance into the outer space and beyond! And there is beyond without borders! It is in us! That what is in us, but sleeping, or it is hidden because of different fears is what the Leader awakes! That us can be awoken only by Leaders that are making the atmosphere for any society to advance! And only then the wars will stop and instead of sustaining many for the greed of few, there will be a progress for all! And we have Leaders among us , so we could help them to reveal themselves by not following rulers!
