It took ten years to decide to write about one case that has happened March 29th 2014.

Namely one human being felt that day during the lunch with his then 15 year old son, who was living with him after he separated from his wife, pain in arms and shoulders joints and understood that he was under a heart attack. He calmly went to the toilet, free him self from the food and liquids to loosen the heart preasure(he is not a doctor but a person with common sense), and drove the car to his home where he took shower with lukewarm water. The pain stabilised and he decided that was time to call his 19 year old daughter to take him to some emergency hospital for examination being posetive that this event will pass softly.

So, when the daughter came she asked him where to go, and he replied wherever as it was the examination he was looking for, not intervention. He was not insured in those days as he stopped his health insurance due to the economic problems that arisen from the separation with his wife. However he had some sum of paper money he was lucky to get from the job he got just few days before the heart attack. It was 6000 that he wanted to use to pay and repay some of the dues he had. 

So, he was quite sure, using common sense, that this amount would be enough, as he was not living neither in the USA nor in UK or continental Europe EU. But common sense, once more confirmed that it became not so common in the times we live in.

As it was Saturday afternoon, his 19 year old daughter suggested to go to one of the private hospitals emergency unit for examination. When they came there in the emergency unit, cardiologist on duty appeared and made diagnosis that it was a heart attack. He used that medical language which translated to normal one said that he had heart attack, like he already diagnosed himself. However, as that private hospital did not have any surgeon on duty that cardiologist on duty, who by the way was a father of many kids( maybe 6 if he remembers well, menaning, as common sense teaches us, that he needed a lot of funds to live good), said that he is not allowed to go from the emergency unit and that it was a must to go for the stent imput intervention. He asked if he knows where to go, never asking if he was insured or not, and after receiving the simple “no, I do not know,” decided to send him to foreign named private hospital where there was a doctor specialised in stent implants. He, our hero patient, knew that this would be expensive but did not say anything not only because he had some funds to pay for intervention  but because his situation was serious.

So, the ambulance came and he gave to his son the money he had with him to pay for the emergency treatment with nitroglycerin and the ambulance transportation.

He arrived at that foreign name hospital in 15 minutes and, even that he was feeling better and could talk and communicate was immediately put on the table, prepared by the sister who spoke his language also( he was with foreign surname living in that place for decades) and then the doctor came to start intervention. He was sure, easy going, and while working was listening on the radio to the football game of his team. The patient was impressed with his stature as he was radiating security. Even that he was listening to the football game.

The patient was looking his heart in the monitor and after some half and hour or so, the liquid was injected in his body for the doctor to see where ONE STENT should be applied.

After some time the positioning of stent has happened and he was transfered to the hospital bed. He stayed for two nights in that hospital as doctor wanted to check how that ONE STENT worked and if the ARTERY was cured.

Now the issue we will be talking about starts.

When our hero, the patient, was ready to go out of the hospital, some lady from accounts came, and gave to him to sign some invoices and papers. THAT HAS HAPPENED AFTER THE INTERVENTION.  When asked why he signed the paper our hero patient stated that he couldn’t do it differently as he was projecting that something could go wrong and in order to secure his life he decided to sign whatever paper they gave him to sign. He said that he remembered Michael VIII Palaiologos of Constantinopol and his acceptance of Latin request to enthrone the Pope as the ruler of all religious rights. Michael then said when asked why he accepted Latin instead to continue with his Orthodox faith, that it was the hard decision one needs to take when is between life and dead. The most important was to stay alive. And our hero patient decided that it was worthy with his 48 years of age then to stay alive and fight for his rights after. The invoice he was presented was of 12000! 

For ONE STENT, at the country where the cost of one stent in other clinics does not exceed 5000. He paid 5000 and after paid another 2000 more when, after talking with different accountants of the hospital, after one year he stopped paying thinking that that hospital has common sense and that cares for its reputation.

Our hero patient, then 48 years old, was right! After some ten days, during night, he felt ARRHYTHMIA and called the hospital. Doctor who implant ONE STENT said to him to go immediately to the hospital where he got 1000mg of magnesium( that what he remembers) and stayed till the afternoon of the next day. He was charged 650 for that service where the doctor said that he informed accounts not to demand payment. Nice of him.

So, one question arises! What would happened to our hero patient if he refused to sign the papers given to him by the accounts, AFTER THE STENT HAS BEEN IMPLANTED?

Now we are in 2024 and they are now charging, after 10 years, our hero patient, the father of three children, to pay 6392.00 ( that point 00 is so interesting) and are introducing a claim in the district court of the city where this hospital operates.

Our hero patient read carefully their lawyer report and was very disappointed about its quality and the facts presented. They omitted to present in truth, crucial moments how, why, and when they obtained the patient signature and why they awaited so many years to start proceedings against our hero patient.
