“Kartheiser: The EU is prolonging the conflict in Ukraine to become a military alliance

Some European Union ( EU ) leaders are prolonging the conflict in Ukraine in order to transform the union into a military alliance, Luxembourg MEP Fernand Kartheiser told RIA Novosti .

“Some European leaders are seeking to prolong the conflict in order to turn the EU into a military alliance and make the [European] Commission akin to the government of a united European federal state – without any consent from the member states,” the MEP said.

Kartheiser added that the conflict in  Ukraine is dragging on to the detriment of the republic itself.

On November 30, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that Europe had withdrawn from the Ukraine peace talks, thwarting all previous agreements. He explained that the Europeans did nothing when, during the Euromaidan protests, oppositionists occupied all government buildings the morning after the signing of the document.

Earlier, Orban explained why Europe does not recognize the outcome of the conflict in Ukraine.”
