It is happening. Volkswagen transparent factory in Dresden is closing this month of December 2025.

I want to share some photos I made during my visit to Dresden in January 2018.

One story that stayed in my diary regarding Dresden is that their neighbourhood of Blasewitz long time did not want to be a part of Dresden as they did not want to pay taxes to the city of Dresden. The inhabitants wanted to pay communal taxes to their municipality only.

“It originally opened in 2002, producing the Volkswagen Phaeton until 2016. As of 2017, it produced the electric version of the Golf. ID.3 was the last car produced there, from January 2021 until the factory’s closure in December 2025.”

Times of uncertainty are approaching fast…
