Yesterday, I was watching and talking about the state of today’s world. I discussed how egocentric, narcissistic, arrogant, and ignorant people were positioned in the places that can destroy humanity. They do this by insidiously talking of making something great while being blackmailed. During this talk, a friend of mine sent me a video. She told me it is the Egyptian film “The Other Pair.” It lasts only 4 minutes. The film won the award for best short film at the Film Festival. She pointed out that the director is only 20 years old, wishing me to enjoy watching!

And I did. Enjoyed it so very much.

You can see the movie below. It shows how little is needed to show humanity. It also shows that being human is not a state of your wallet but of your soul.

The message is clear and straightforward. The world needs to be set free from all those pursuing bullying, division, war, and domination of any kind. The world can win over egocentrics, ignorant, arrogant, insidious, evil, and narcissistic sociopaths. It will take showing, doing, cherishing, and promoting pure human goodness. and a simple truth. Simple goodness. That simple goodness has been presented to humanity with this short, 4-minute movie.

“Arrogance diminishes others, and therefore diminishes us“, said, among other wise words, a remarkable man, late Rabbi Lord Jonathan Sacks.

It is a part of the following quote;

“There is all the difference in the world between pride and arrogance. Arrogance is the belief that you are better than others. Jews have sometimes been guilty of this, and it is inexcusable. Pride is simply knowing that each of us is different and being at ease with that fact, never “desiring this man’s gift and that man’s scope.” Arrogance diminishes others and therefore diminishes us. Pride values others, because we have learned to value ourselves.”

Immortal Rumi, on the other hand, said:

“Butchers enjoy the mindless chewing of lambs. Likewise, the appetites work for a shadow king. Do the soul work instead. Feed daily on wisdom. Expand your heart. Rest the appetites. They are bandits on the road. They stop your spirit and steal valuables. The most vital thing about you is your soul intelligence. The rest is a mask for that. Don’t lose touch with it. Sensual wantings sometimes block and blur that intelligence as surely as wine or hashish can.

Arrogance too is drunken, making you think things true that aren’t.”

We all have moments when we get blinded by hatred, or just because we are blackmailed, wanting revenge, wanting to transfer our pain to others. That might be understood if we were only responsible for ourselves. However, if our responsibility is for the nation as a whole, our reactions should always be guided by the future, as the future will be the judge of our deeds. Tragedies will bring new Tragedies. The real strength is not to react but to know when to stop.

No need for more words, as words have tremendous power, awakening images that present the phenomenon. Thus, we all should MEASURE our words. If we can not unite, let’s at least not divide!, and try, please try, to PROTECT OTHERS FROM YOURSELF.

And we should remember and try not to forget that, as Rumi said:

“A true man stares at his old shoes
and sheepskin jacket. Every day, he goes up to his attic to look at his work shoes and worn-out coat.
This is his wisdom, to remember the original clay,
And not get drunk on ego and arrogance.”

To finish with this short observation – WHOEVER IS BLACKMAILED ABOUT WHATEVER IT IS, DOES NOT HAVE ANY RIGHT TO SACRIFICE OTHER HUMAN BEINGS LIVES TO TRY, JUST TRY TO SURVIVE IN THE POSITION HE/SHE OCCUPIES! That shows the lack of courage, leadership, and abilities. It is common sense.
