Some years ago I read the statement of Ted Turner when he sold,”merged” CNN to Time Warner. It is that Ted Turner who made me learn and never forget the quote he had in his office. It says:
“Either lead, follow or get out of the way.”
It is that Ted Turner who in 1980 sent a camera crew to Moscow to cover the Olympic Games that were boycotted by so-called Western part of the globe. Another half truth that, as it is repeated all the time, made people to believe in it without questioning the Geography. Amazing! It is worthy noting that then US administration of Mr. President Carter decided to boycott the games over 1979 Soviet Invasion of Afghanistan. Interesting statement came from then Western Germany Chancellor Helmut Schmidt who said that the American attitude that the “allies “should simply do as they are told” was unacceptable.” But still West Germany joined the boycott. Let the bell ring! Or you are still deaf? So the atmosphere in the USA was boiling and other media started to call Mr. Turner the Bolshevik Red Ted.
Then some months after they called him “Closet KKK right-winger racist Ted.”
They do not leave you alone when you are independent, visionary independent businessmen, with integrity and above all speaking your own mind.
As he got sick and tired with all these he used the first opportunity and “merged” CNN with the Time Warner. From then the following statement comes. It is really surprising that you can not find it on Google. So, this is what has been said that he said then:
“I am going to stick with my billboard business that I am familiar with, and when I shake hands, it counts. All these assholes calling themselves news men got the best of me. As far as I am concerned they can go to hell-every single one of those bad characters. They are nothing but prostitutes in a cat house. Don’t let your children go to a school of journalism.”
While reading these words, the first think that came to my mind was that not all journalists could be described by the words of Mr.Turner. Of course some could be described using stronger words and characteristics but some do still keep their integrity and independence. So I said, come on Mr. Turner, the world needs journalists. Not all are like you described. Even if in minority they are still here among us writing and contributing to maintain some balance!
By the way I was always calling Ted Turner, Mr.Turner. In todays world we forgot to show that basic respect. We call Mr. Vladimir Vladimirovic Putin, just Putin and Mr. Josef Biden, just Biden. One prefix Mr. or in their cases Mr. President will not stop you of criticising them as much as you think it is appropriate. Or if you are overwhelmed with hatred, just avoid mentioning their names. Mentioning any name without respect will not do harm to that person, it will harm you , especially your inner self. That is what you will notice after, when taking stocks of your deeds. But usually it will be too late do change anything. Choice is yours, always yours.
After listening to Mr.Turner and looking forward I decided to establish philosophyofgoodnews.com. Not to be here only for the good news, but to give my contribution to awaking, awareness and advance of us as human beings. Not to expose, but to encourage others to open their eyes and recognize what is right in front of their noses. He had the quote “either lead, follow or get out of the way,” as a guiding idea and as there were no numbers of any followers you need to have to practice the quote I concluded to follow it. As the result infront of you is Philosophyofgoodnews.com.
I would like to use this opportunity and invite you to contribute to this sight with your writings. Just be posetive! Thank you!
