The Coup in Gabon and Bwiti religion

BWITI COPPER RELIQUARY – KOTA – GABON

Another coup has occurred in Africa. This time in Gabon. The son of the longest serving president( from 1967 to 2009) El Hadj Omar Bongo, Ali Bongo Ondimba has been ousted in the coup after he became a president in 2009, and just now we found out that the generals who organised the coup unanimously voted for General Brice Oligui Nguema former head of the presidential guard to lead the transition. Another head of presidential guard after the coup in Niger that became the transitional leader. There will be many posts about the new transitional President that you will read about that here I will not much emphasise his connections and influences but will concentrate with some curiosities that reflect the people of Gabon and its many different tribes. You have even some secret societies that became syncretic religion. Like Bwiti religion that arises from the secret society of the same name and it is the traditional religion of the Fang people the most populous group in Gabon. They have deep political influence and connections. Even such a small country of 2.3 million people has its “deep state,” that decided to do the practical act and change the 55 years of one family(Bongo) government. Nothing is forever, is the message that all rulers should learn before they become one. What is even more interesting is that General Brice comes from the same area as Bongo family and it is their relative.

To get you more into the modus operandi of Gabon society let me say that the opposition candidate for the president in highly disputed elections of 26th of August 2023 was Mr. Albert Ondo Ossa a former education minister, member of civil society and associate professor of economics at Omar Bongo University. He was born in the town of Minvoul in the province of  Woleu-ntem close to the border with Cameron into a family of devoted catholics. Wouldn’t be surprising at all, and would shade more light to the current events, if we learn that Mr. Ossa is Fung. To make the story even more interesting please note that in the suburbs of the village where his mother was born, just 4km from Minvoul, operates the Catholic mission of Aleppo known to have contributed to the education of many women who became executives. Just to connect the things let me say that from 2019 and after the liberation of Alepo from Islamic insurgents in 2016 three Jesuit priests are serving there. Nooo, you should not connect the recent Pope’s speech greeting the Russian Catholics at their gathering in St. Petersburg and praising Russia, but omitting to notice a crucial part. Pope mentioned Tsar Peter and Empress Catherine II of Russia only, and not Emperor Alexander I and other Romanov’s that came after him. So, what this has to do with Gabon? Well it has to do with methods and projection. Up to you to research more.

“There is no coincidence, everything is a part of plan”, said Ambreen Nadeem, in The Algorithm of Life.

The revealing fact about Fang people and the Bwiti religion they follow even after going to Sunday’s Mass and celebrate Christian Easter, is that it teaches the people to live their lives through direct experience rather then believing what someone else says. Their aim is to promote spiritual growth, to orotect and stabilize family structure and reslove any pathological issues. They teach the people to live the life of self inquiry without any believing systems. Either you know something or you don’t. If you don’t you will stay with the unknown until you directly have your life experience. Then you will know!

That brings in light another virtue. Patience.

In Gabon, that is my belief, people have patience, and work slowly and methodically knowing their strengths and weaknesses. They also see the trends and the opportunities. When all the parts of the mosaic are finished they act! That might be confirmed by the fact that Gabon became in 2022 the member of the Commonwealth of Nations that is voluntary association of 56 states, with vast majority of which are former territories of the British Empire. Have in mind that the official language in Gabon is French. Part of the mosaic? You decide.

The year 2022 is remembered not only as the year of Gabons voluntary entry into the Commonwealth of Nations but also as the second year of General Brice Oligul as the Commander-in-Chief of the Gabonese Republican Guard.

As Gabon has many riches, including oil, uranium from its Oklo mine the only known Earth Two billion year old Nuclear Reactor, wood, manganese, iron ore( still unexploited), and it is very interesting how will events develop I will be following the story and will inform you more about some other “coincidences” that might be of interest.
